About The Guide

Hi everyone!

u/PineFlower96 here.

After spending hours on r/UBC answering messages from future nursing students, I decided that I finally had the time to sit down after work and create this website as a (hopefully) valuable resource for all prospective UBC School of Nursing Vancouver students who hope to find guidance regarding the multi-step admissions process. I wish such resources were available to me back in 2019. Now I’m able to pay it forward <3

As an alumni of the UBC Nursing Class of 2021 (September 2019 intake), I think an updated 2023 compendium is in order. The program changed in certain ways since I graduated, yet some other things remain the same: a dedicated work ethic, passionate attitude, and altruistic drive for nursing. If you possess these qualities, the UBC Nursing program will set you up for success.

At the same time, please remember that school does not comprise your entire life. Take care of yourselves! You have the brains, and you’re aware of this, consciously or not. Your supplemental application is living proof.

Nursing school? Not a walk in the park. Extensive school hours consist of tears, stress, studying, and clinical practicums—all of which work toward a highly coveted and multifaceted BSN degree, but my personal experiences in the program will also inform the advice I’ll be providing in this guide. Please treat it as your support group alongside your classmates.

Feel free to reach out to me on Reddit if you have any burning questions, doubts, or are in need of a safe space. If I’m off-shift, I’ll try my best to read them and/or reply as appropriate <3

Disclaimer: I claim none of the information on this website as 100% accurate nor shared in confidence by the UBC Nursing Admissions Committee. I’m not a part of any Admissions Board, nor do I have any involvement with official university sources. All advice, tips, and program insights are my own as a former student.

You’ll be joining one of the largest self-regulated international healthcare professions in the world—most of whom are devoted to delivering safe, compassionate, competent and ethical healthcare for every person regardless of systemic barriers. Healing lives matters to us.

See you at UBC in September!
